We are sad to report the passing of a Caldicot club legend Mike Hobbs. Mike was instrumental in starting the Mini \ Junior section in Caldicot in the early 80's and worked hard to promote the club in community events. He could always be seen on the Caldicot RFC float at the annual Carnival entertaining the crowds enroute, and was ever present at the annual tournaments, running the show.

Mike not only delivered for Caldicot, he delivered for many clubs across the county by being part of the district setup and with out his hard work many of the clubs and competitions in place today would not have been possible. While it was the Mini \ Junior section that Mike served well, it was the Club that Mike loved, willing to do anything to help the club grow and become the well known and respected club it is today.

Until very recently Mike served as Chairman on the Mini \ Junior committee having to step down in 2016 due to ill health. In 2017 Caldicot Town Mayor presented Mike with a recognition award for over 30 years of service ...

Our thoughts are with Jean, Amanda, Ian and their families at this sad time. We will not only miss Mike the man, but we will miss Mike the character.

The funeral will take place at St Mary's Church in Caldicot at 10:30 on Tuesday 2nd Oct, followed by Langstone Crematorium and then back to the clubhouse.

Club members are asked to wear a club tie and form a guard of honour at the church.
